Position title: Vice Provost for Enrollment Management

Derek Kindle is the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison in July 2016 as Director of Student Financial Aid, responsible for the University’s administration of early $480M in federal, state, institutional and private. Derek has over 20 years of higher education experience and has worked in Admissions, Financial Aid, Bursar and Enrollment Management.

Derek is also active in several national higher education organizations and has been tapped as an expert for national higher education reviews, including the Government Accountability Office’s 2009 study on how to simplify the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation review of institutional aid policies and the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs hearing on the role of private student lending, a member of the U.S. Department of Education’s FAFSA Design Team and a presenter to new Chief Enrollment Officers at College Board’s Higher Ed Colloquium. He is a College Board’s Midwest Regional Council representative, a member of College Board’s College Access and Planning Committee and a commissioner for the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training.

Derek’s special interests are in strategic enrollment plans that expand access, improve retention and graduation rates while leveraging institutional resources.

Mr. Kindle earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors at Howard University in Washington, DC.
