Position title: Vice Provost for Enrollment Management
Derek Kindle is the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and provides leadership in developing, executing, and assessing a strategic enrollment management plan for the university. Over 20 years of higher education experience, Derek has worked in Admissions, Financial Aid, Bursar, and Enrollment Management. A nationally recognized expert in higher education, he serves in leadership positions with several national organizations including the National Association for College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the National Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the College Board, and the Higher Education Loan Coalition (HELC). Currently, Derek is on the faculty of the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education’s Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice (USC CERPP) program, co-directs the NACAC Chief Enrollment Officers’ program, and co-chairs NASFAA’s Strategic Enrollment Management Pathway task force. Previously, Derek was a member of the U.S. Department of Education’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) design team and part of an early Government Accountability Office study of ways to simplify the FAFSA.
Derek served as the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Director of Student Financial Aid from July 2016 to March 2020 and was responsible for the administration nearly $480M in federal, state, institutional, and private aid.
Derek earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors at Howard University in Washington, DC.
